Borage oil

Borage Oil, derived from the seeds of the Borago officinalis plant, is renowned for its high concentration of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an essential fatty acid with remarkable skin benefits. Known for its potent anti-inflammatory and skin-nourishing properties, borage oil is used to manage a range of skin conditions, including eczema, dermatitis, and dry skin.

Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA):

GLA is an omega-6 fatty acid with a chemical structure featuring multiple double bonds, which enhances its ability to influence inflammatory processes and skin hydration. GLA is crucial for maintaining the skin’s lipid barrier, which helps to lock in moisture and prevent water loss. This makes borage oil highly effective in treating dry, flaky skin and conditions like eczema and psoriasis. GLA’s anti-inflammatory properties also help reduce redness, itching, and swelling, promoting a calmer, more balanced complexion.

Linoleic Acid:

Linoleic acid, another omega-6 fatty acid, supports the skin’s lipid barrier and plays a key role in maintaining skin health. Linoleic acid helps to normalize oil production, which can prevent clogged pores and reduce acne. It also supports skin repair, improves texture, and enhances overall hydration, making it beneficial for both oily and dry skin types.

Sterols:

Borage oil contains plant sterols, which are structurally similar to cholesterol and help reinforce the skin’s barrier function. Sterols contribute to reducing skin inflammation and irritation, supporting the repair of the skin barrier, and improving hydration levels. They help soothe sensitive skin and protect against environmental damage.
